Introduction
Carps Angling Club was founded in 1991 by a few local gentlemen in the
village of
Wick, just outside Bristol, in memory of a local man by the name of Jack
Weight.
Over a number of years Jack introduced the locals to many of his country
pursuits, one of which was fishing for carp.
After his death in the early nineties, a group of locals at The
Carpenters Arms pub in Wick, decided to form a fishing club in Jack's
memory, called Carps Angling Club.
The members met at regular intervals and organised a match once a year
in memory of Jack, where anglers were able to fish together.
During the AGM of November 1998, Mr Robert Watts had a proposal approved
by all members present, that a new constitution should be drafted and
approved for Carps AC, which would meet the change of direction of the
club.
At the AGM held in November 2000, the president, John Bennett proposed a
new constitution for the AGM's adoption. It was approved unanimously.
In recent
years the emphasis has moved to a match-fishing club with membership throughout
the South West of England, with a full Sunday & Wednesday Match Programme
& Matches incorporating two Sunday leagues and also a Thursday Evening Summer league, Opens & Festivals
included. Membership increases year on year.
Throughout
this website you will find information about the club's constitution, Match
Calendars for Sunday and Wednesday matches, Summer league Sundays and Summer League
Thursday Evenings, Posters for Matches, Match Rules, Club Rules, Fishery Details
and AGM rulings approved over the past years.
